Renewed Ambition’s AI Basics · Lesson 6 of 7
Goal: Protect your privacy, check AI answers, use AI honestly, and stay within your supervision terms.
The STOP check — before you use an AI answer
| Letter | Question | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S — Safe | Did I keep private information out? | Never enter your SSN, ID or bank numbers, passwords, case numbers, medical details, or other people’s private information. |
| T — True | Did I check it? | AI can be confidently wrong (this is called a hallucination). Check important facts with an official website or a real person. |
| O — Original & honest | Am I being honest about it? | Never use AI to lie on an application, fake documents, or cheat on tests. Make the final words your own. |
| P — Permitted | Am I allowed to use it here? | Follow your parole or probation conditions, house rules, school rules, and workplace rules about phones, internet, and AI. |
Supervision first: some parole and probation conditions limit internet, smartphone, or social media use. Ask your agent or officer before using AI tools if you are not sure. Renewed Ambition staff can help you ask.
More smart habits
- AI is a helper, not a decision-maker. Legal, medical, money, and immigration decisions need a qualified person.
- Watch for scams and deepfakes. AI can fake voices, photos, and videos. If someone asks for money or personal information urgently, stop and verify.
- Bias is real. AI learned from people and can repeat unfair ideas. If an answer seems unfair, question it.
- Keep your own skills sharp. Use AI to learn, not to stop thinking. Read the answer and make it yours.
- Delete what you do not need. Many tools let you delete chats and turn off “use my data for training” in settings.
Try it
- Find the privacy or data settings in the AI tool you use. Look for options to delete chats or stop your chats being used for training.
- Ask an AI tool a fact question, then check the answer on an official website. Did they match?
