Phase Two — Community Reentry · Module 9 of 24 · 90 minutes

Keeping your bed by understanding structure, chores, and shared responsibility.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the structure that keeps a recovery residence functioning for everyone.
  • Build a personal plan for meeting curfew, chores, and shared-living expectations.
  • Identify the most common reasons residents lose placement, and how to avoid them.

Why this matters

Housing is the foundation everything else in this program sits on. Renewed Ambition follows national recovery residence standards (NARR) because a stable, structured living environment is what makes every other module possible.

Reality check: Losing your bed rarely happens over one big incident. It happens through a pattern — missed curfew, skipped chores, avoided conversations — that builds until it can’t be ignored. Catching the pattern early is the whole game.

Activity

House Systems Walkthrough — review chore chart, curfew schedule, and shared-space agreements; each resident commits in writing to their specific responsibilities.

Scenario

A resident misses curfew twice in the first month because they never set up a transportation plan. What started as a scheduling problem becomes a housing risk.

What would you do first?

Reflection

  1. What’s one house responsibility you’re most likely to let slide, and why?
  2. What would help you stay accountable to it?

My action plan (pick at least one)

  • Set up a reliable transportation plan for meeting curfew.
  • Commit to your assigned chore rotation in writing.
  • Identify one shared-living conflict pattern to watch for in yourself.

Resources

  • Renewed Ambition House Rules & Policies and Procedures
  • National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) — Resident Rights & Responsibilities
  • House Manager and Chore Form

Completion checklist

  • ☐ I know the house rules, curfew, and chore expectations by heart.
  • ☐ I have a reliable way to meet curfew.
  • ☐ I know the escalation process if I break a house rule.

Milestone: 30 consecutive days with no curfew or house rule violations.
